In answer to questions, Mr. Keller said that construction at the Park Avenue site should start by September and that an October 1, 2009 grand opening is scheduled for the Target store and perhaps the whole center.
When asked by Mayor Stodola how much would be invested, Keller replied that the question was difficult to answer this early, but that his estimate was between $80 and $90 million.
Ruth Bell, Action Chair of the Pulaski County League of Women Voters, Craig Berry, Chairman of the Midtown Redevelopment District #1 Advisory Board and Jim Bell, Director and Webmaster of the Briarwood Area Neighborhood Association, each spoke in favor of the revised Park Avenue plan.
In addition, the Little Rock Planning Department staff supported the revised plan and the Little Rock Planning Commission approved an earlier plan by a vote of 6 to 1 and the revised plan by a vote of 7 to 0.
The LR Board of Directors approved the revised Park Avenue plan by unanimous vote.
